Tampa, FL – A reward is being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of whoever abandoned three emaciated dogs in the woods behind Blessings Gas Station on US 41. According to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, the dogs were discarded in an area where they would likely have never been found.
Thankfully, good Samaritans discovered them and got them to the shelter for care. The animal welfare agency said:
Two brave young girls didn’t hesitate to act. They put the suffering dogs in their car and drove them straight to HSTB.
The shelter dubbed the dogs Blessing, Hope and Spirit. Blessing is believed to be the mother of the younger dogs, who are estimated to be two years of age. Blessing was in the worst shape of the dogs, and the shelter and medical staff was monitoring her closely through the night – because of her fragile state, her odds for survival were just 50 percent.
Tragically, despite being given round-the-clock care, she was not able to survive the severe neglect. On Friday afternoon, the shelter updated concerned Facebook followers, writing words they hoped to never say:
This afternoon, after she saw her babies to say goodbye and being surrounded by many loving staff and the medical team, Blessing passed away. She stopped eating, her temperature fell to 93 degrees, and her breathing labored.
There is a sizable reward for information in this case. The shelter writes:
REWARD INCREASED! Thanks to the generosity of our friend and animal advocate Dave Bautista (Batista), who contributed $5,000, and an anonymous donor who donated an additional $250 the total reward is now $5,750. Thank you to the animal rescue that did all you could unfortunately Blessing couldn’t make it. Hopefully those two puppies find a way to a really good home.!!
The scum responsible needs to experience the same level of abandonment and neglect in their live. Bless those innocent pups. Blessing deserved a different outcome in this world somewhere where she was loved. Thank you those who quickly got those dogs to help rather than turning away. They are the kind who make the world a better place despite the monster who dumped them.
Very heart breaking to say the least!!!!! The monster deserve to die a horrible death in hell!!!!!!!!!!! Blessing and I know they fought to keep blessing alive!!!!!!!! The, let them die horrible deaths that they deserve. We don’t want them on earth. I know someone will recognize these dogs and you’ll find the piece of f-ing scum that needs to be killed.
The horrific starvation and abuse these poor animals experienced is an abomination. He knew by abandoning them in such a rural area was cruel torture with little chance of their being saved. The mother dog paid with her life. This person should be severely punished by having to pay for all medical care, food and care, plus prison time. Not a slap on the wrist.
