Devore, California – A beautiful German shepherd is urgently in need of help at the Devore animal shelter facility in California. The four-year-old shepherd, dubbed Pookie, has been at the facility since March 16 and already, her time has run out.
Pookie’s adoption profile reveals her dire situation – the name field reads, “Name: My name is Urgent Med Adopt Pookie.”
And on social media, her apparently “euthanasia” date is today, March 31. As of this morning, her adoption profile is still active, meaning she is still alive and there is hope to save her life. But time is running short and this beautiful girl desperately needs the help of strangers if she is to survive.
Pookie has been described as gentle and docile. She has been calmly waiting in her lonely kennel run for someone to take notice of her and free her from the building. Please help this deserving dog have the opportunity to live out the remainder of her life – if help does not arrive soon, she will forever be lost.

I don’t understand America, in the UK when animsls are rescued off the street or from anywhere else, they are cared for until a good home can be found. I volunteer with a small, independant, entirely voluntary cat rescue in Wales. Every cat or kiten taken in goes straight to the vet for a health check, worm, flea treatment, blood test for FIV and FELV, vaccination and neutering from 4 months of age. They stay at the sanctuary untill a safe home is found, home check is done and each goes out with a contract saying if they cannot be kept for any reason they must be returned to the sanctuary. No healthy animal is destroyed and new owners must consult the sanctuary before putting an animal to sleep. That is the correct way to un an animal rescue.
Someone please save this beautiful pup, she does not deserve to die ! Give her a chance and move her to a no-kill shelter, until her fur-ever home is found!
Absolutely heartbreaking. What a terrible world we live in. I’d take the dog in right away. But I live in Europe. It’s all just too much to bear.
Please please save Pookie, There are enough homes out there to give her a chance at life. Stop killing these beautiful animals that God so lovely provided for us, they give us the unconditional love that most people cannot give. We as a society need to do better than this!
