San Antonio, Texas – An accused kitten strangler has been arrested in San Antonio. The authorities say 31-year-old Ryan Berlanga turned himself in after community tips and police investigators identified him as the likely suspect.

Police opened an investigation after the November 9 incident, which was caught on surveillance cameras at an apartment complex in the 7400 block of Yarrow Boulevard. The footage showed a man chasing a kitten before strangling it in the apartment stairwell. As reported by KSAT News, the affidavit states that Berlanga also appeared to use his left hand to “press down forcefully” on the kitten and, at one point, grabbed the kitten’s tail with his right hand and pulled upward.
The cruel incident has resulted in Berlanga facing a charge of Cruelty to Non-livestock Animals.
