Everett, Washington – This week, the Everett Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect in an animal cruelty case involving a dog who was abandoned in a suitcase that was tossed into a dumpster. In a December 15 news release, the authorities said:
Major Crimes detectives identified a suspect by using obtained photos and videos, as well as statements and tips from numerous individuals. As a result of their investigation, detectives developed probable cause to charge the suspect with EMC 16.52.207.1 Animal Cruelty in the 2nd Degree.
After probable cause was established, the suspect was taken into custody by Everett Police patrol officers the night of December 14, 2025.
The neglected dog, dubbed Binny, was rescued from a dumpster by officers in November. The dumped dog showed signs of neglect and had a rope tied tightly around her neck. After being saved from the dumpster, Binny was taken to the Everett Animal Shelter for care; she has since recovered and been adopted.
The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
