Ballinger, Texas – More than 70 animals, including 60+ dogs and puppies, have been rescued from a rural Texas home where they were living in squalor. Humane World for Animals, formerly Humane Society of the United States, assisted the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office in the Wednesday morning raid.
Officials found injured and ailing dogs and puppies living amongst trash and debris in the residence. Neglected horses, chickens and geese were also rescued from the property.

On Thursday, Humane World for Animals said:
Our team just rescued over 70 animals—including over 60 dogs and puppies—from an alleged neglect situation in Texas.
These animals were living in overwhelming, filthy conditions. Inside the home, the smell of ammonia and feces was so strong it was detectable from outside. Many dogs are underweight, suffering from hair loss, raw skin, untreated injuries and overgrown nails. Several litters of young puppies were discovered—some just 2 weeks old—hidden in closets and bathrooms.

Alex Gamez, Texas state director, Humane World for Animals, described the situation:
“The moment you walk in, it hits you like a wall. Between the constant noise of barking, filth, odor and the chaos of dozens of dogs in overcrowded conditions, this scene is a complete sensory overload—I can only imagine the stress and suffering these animals have endured living like this.”

The rescued animals were moved to undisclosed locations to receive the veterinary care they need. It is unclear if anyone will be facing criminal charges.

The evil devils responsible for this horror deserve the death penalty! Kill these cruel sadists!
Not knowing all of the facts & Not making any excuses, but I wonder, could it be that the property owner was someone who started out with good intentions, trying to save the lives of homeless dogs and the population grew out of control? Do not understand any other reason why someone would have this many animals in their home.
On another note, would like to see the screening of local veterinarians in every town in this country for a required number of ‘free’ spay and neutering of pets on a monthly basis for those who simply cannot afford the procedure. You know, giving back to the community.
Sure it could have been that, but people need to step back and evaluate what they are doing. Not at all acceptable. I always wonder, don’t these people have family members that see the horror in these situations?
THIS DISGUSTING AND DEPLORABLE FILTH IS DEFINITELY ‘NOT THE NORM’ SO SURELY SOMEONE MUST BE MADE FULLY ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE LIVING ENVIRONMENT THESE POOR DOGS AND PUPPIES HAVE HAD TO ENDURE????
WHOSE RESPONSIBLE????
AND SO IT WILL GO ON AND ON IF SOMEONE DOESN’T PAY THE PRICE!!!
Sweet little innocents, still trying to guard the only thing they know as home. If only they could know what wonderful lives they deserve….NOT to be stuck with lunatics who make their lives a nightmare. HWfA had better use enough of their millions of dollars to see to it that each and every dog/animal gets a beautiful life after enduring all that. Humane org. founders and executives usually take home HUGE salaries, going by their IRS 990 returns, and that is infuriating.
HARSHER PUNISHMENT FOR ANIMAL ABUSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A better use of funds would be to use it to change laws, to force breeders to be held accountable, to outlaw any backyard breeder facility and to demand stricter regulations, inspections and other terms for all breeders. Anyone caught in a breeder situation like this should have to pay all medical and rescue costs and be fined, jailed and banned from any further animal contact. Spay and neuter programs that are affordable for pet owners would also help cut down on the amount of animals being neglected . Shelters are full of abandoned pets, breeders need to go, that’s the bigger issue.
The even bigger issue is that these multi-million dollar giant organizations never do what really needs to be done to fix and END the problems, because that would mean less $$$ coming in and the need for their “services” winding down. Consider this: “The ASPCA’s president and CEO, Matthew E. Bershadker, earned $1,117,171 in total compensation for the fiscal year ending December 2022.” Quite the posh, comfy life, for him.
retards. who create such evil devilish situations for animals and make them suffer should be hanged
Someone should be facing charges! Who owns the home? What’s wrong with you, the animals deserve justice?! If the authorities don’t hold someone accountable, it will send a very bad message! Just stupidity and neglect on part of the authorities!
you are so right! They need to make an example of this treatment. Prosecute these pos who treat innocent animals like garbage. Make the owners Live there, exactly as it is so they can get “the full experience.” No water. No food. No help is coming. No medical care. Lock them in.
When they want out, make them sell the property to pay for food, medical care and all their other needs. And to Never be allowed to own or be around another animal of any kind. Ever.
The monster responsible needs to suffer like those innocent animals did. Bless all the dogs for enduring what they did. Hopefully there are brighter days ahead where they will know love and compassion.
