Update! I have just received word that this cat has been freed – best possible outcome.
South Brooklyn, New York – Animal lovers are justifiably up in arms about a cat who has been trapped in a storage shed in South Brooklyn for nearly a week. The cat, part of a feral cat community, is reported to be in a storage shed by the parking lot of Lincoln High School, which is currently closed for the spring break holiday.
On social media, the situation has been shared with page followers:

School is closed this week. The only people available are Custodian and Security. They don’t want to let the feeder in to get the cat. Feeder knows the custodian for years but supposedly is now getting in trouble for letting the cat out. He’s let the cat out in the past. Police showed up and didn’t do anything. The feeder is 39 years old now and has been feeding a colony over there since she was 15. There used to be a lot more, now it’s down to only 3 cats. They have cat houses on the property & school employees also feed the 3 cats.
Apparently, the custodian who normally assists is now refusing, as are the local police and fire department.
It is a simple fix for someone. Either the custodian or school security unlocks the shed and lets the cat out, or the police or fire department break the lock and opens the door to let the cat out. Not rocket science.
The following post was made by a friend of the person who feeds the cats. This was written on the morning of April 7.
He refused to help her anymore but still she assumed the cat was let out. Yesterday night was day 5 and she thought maybe something else happened to the cat but later in the evening like at 9pm, she called the cat and she started to cry from inside the storage room.
So, as of Tuesday, the cat was still locked inside, unable to escape.
Perhaps if enough people reach out to the local authorities, someone will understand that this is cruel, and this cat deserves to live.

The exact same thing happened to my cat. He didn’t come home , for 2 days I was searching for him. So I entered the school grounds and started calling out his name as I walked along the row of locked garages , used as students workrooms. And he cried out for me. eventually the school caretaker found the keys after an hour and my cat was released.
It was a horrible experience for the cat and me as I have a lot of physical health issues that limits mobility. I emailed the School Principle and the evil man didn’t even reply. Why are humans so careless and selfish when it comes to animals!? Thank God this cat was finally rescued !
Be responsible for that helpless life — keep the cat safe at home. We cannot trust strangers cops schools humans to do what’s right so please— keep cats safe at home!! I rescued 4 off the streets got them spayed neutered n in my HOME so they can always be SAFE.
I think the people who didn’t rescue the cat should be prosecuted. President Trump had an animal abuse law passed. It’s now a federal crime to harm animals and this surely qualifies. The poor cat.

How horrible. A school consisting of individuals, from principal to janitor who are examples to children and the community. Not caring for a living being who is in need is a disgrace. Who ever is responsible for this action, knowingly or unknowingly should be held liable for abuse.
People have become uncaring slobs. Everything is an inconvenience to them. Glad this poor cat got out okay.

This is sadly not surprising from this awful state. Couldn’t pay me to go there. One of the most uncaring and uncompassionate states ever, especially when it comes to animals. It is not that hard to open a dang door, heartless cruel people every single one of them that refused to help.

What kind of first responder leaves a cat locked up for a week to die. They don’t deserve that title! I don’t understand how people can turn a blind eye to obvious cruelty. The only reason they let that cat out is because the public found out about it. They are despicable people.
Somebody is feeding the cats and keeping the population down. Why do they have to be so inhumane? I thought first responders were supposed to help every one and everything you guys are a disgrace to the uniform rot in hell and the custodian too.
