Los Angeles County, California – The owner of a California animal rescue is vowing to fight for the cats and dogs seized by officials last Friday. Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control seized 66 cats and 250 dogs from property in the 46000 block of 266th Street West in Lake Hughes where Christine De Anda, operated the Rock N Paws animal rescue.

Officials responded to the property after neighbors complained about noise and odors. Initial reports indicated upwards of 700 cats and dogs were at the property, but that number was drastically reduced after the raid was complete.
De Anda denies wrongdoing and plans to fight to regain custody of the rescue animals. She tells KTLA News:
“I was here documenting all the dogs as they were pulling them off so that I could have proof for the judge. The animals were cleaned every day, the animals were rotated out into yards every single day, every single dog is happy. They were healthy. They were cared for.”

The massive intake of animals is putting a strain on area animal shelters. Individuals interested in donating or fostering are asked to reach out to animal care and control to learn more. Find the agency on Facebook at this link.
The investigation into this situation remains ongoing.

Greater Good/ Animal Rescue Site has a section where one can click for free to give medical care, food, and many other causes. There are animals there who are what seems to be this place as there are 300 of them who were rescued. The pictures show dogs who are very thin and malnourished. I would like to give this woman the benefit of the doubt but after my last comment, the connection between the animals I have seen in the photos and this article/the comments here, I find it hard to do that now. Yes, animals often to into rescues undernourished or injured but that does not seem to be the case here.
As I am reading these comments, I too wonder what the problem is and why they had to “rescue” the animals. I have said more than once in petition comments on Change.org that CA does good things for the environment and people (not perfect of course) but when it comes to animals, they are seriously failing. It is appalling that in allegedly helping, they killed some of the animals. To be clear, healthy animals are not euthanized, they are killed. The former is a procedure than means ‘gentle death’ and is for ending suffering from a very painful condition or disease that will never get better, only worse. Healthy animals are killed and it seems, that these animals need to go back to this place. So many animals who actually need help and this is what they focus on? I am not there and am writing only on the little I know but that seems to indicate the powers that be are once more exhibiting their nefarious abuse of power for which the animals are paying.
Something is not right about this story. Why won’t they state exactly why they removed the animals? I think there is some kind of political agenda going on, and these poor animals are paying the price.
These animals look very healthy and well cared for! What the hell is going on in Californication? Just more of the peace loving liberals at work!
I saw that raid being aired on TV. The pIace appeared to be cIean, weII organized, and the animaIs heaIthy. So what is reaIIy going on here? There reason stated for this raid was vague, no reaI specified charge. Of course, one can be made up as they go aIong, if pressed by too many of the curious.
It is concerning because an animaI rescue acquaintance of mine was raided severaI years ago by the big, poIiticaIIy connected animaI “protection” agency that she had been removing animaIs from because of THEIR crueIty, The Iong and short of is was that they ruined her Iife because she was giving their image a bruising. The animaIs were confiscated and she was punished with a HUGE fine, that she had to pay off monthIy or Iose her home.
We found out the prosecutor was on the board of the agency that raided her. There are more infuriating detaiIs, but I’m trying to keep this short. We aIso found that they had done this to others.
So, foIks, if one gets deepIy invoIved in doing good works, one often finds out that there is a corrupt faction hovering in the wings,, ready to strike, that you did not expect.
LA Animal Control notoriously ignores the horrible dog and other animal abuse going on in the homeless encampments and instead goes after a rescue that so far was not obviously neglecting or abusing the animals. It’s all so vague. But this is clear: Dogs on “Skid Row” and all over LA are being horribly abused, even “sexually,” existing in horrible enclosures among their own waste, etc., etc. What does animal control do about it all when notified again and again? Seemingly NOTHING. So what, exactly, is going on here?
In Newsom’s fiefdom the homeless have more rights than other citizens. Plenty of rescues have been complaining with some volunteers fearing for their safety trying to help the animals in these camps. You are spot on about the abuse. Locals need to get loud.
Thank you for confirming that. The evil committed by this government—state, county and city—should be considered felonious, and all those in power should be in prison, or in place of all of those dogs and others in hells out there. It’s far beyond heartbreaking. It’s outrageous for these authorities to act as if the wellbeing of those dogs from the rescue is their objective. WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE DOGS BEING HORRIBLY ABUSED BY THE DEMOCRATS’ HOMELESS DEMONS! Sure, some of them love and care for their dogs as well as possible, until they possibly get taken by the demonic lunatics. Bass totally ignores ALL OF IT and instead keeps talking gibberish about “Angelenos”!
yes, I saw on the news that they rescued the animals. But, they had to euthanize some due to crowded conditions!!! I saw the property it was perfectly clean and well taken care of.
