Duval County, Florida – An animal cruelty investigation has been instigated in Jacksonville following the discovery of a badly neglected Great Dane, dubbed Miracle, who suffered a cruel death caused by extreme starvation. Earlier this week, Animal Care and Protective Services reached out to the public for help, outlining what happened to the dog:
Duval, our Officers need your help. Because Miracle deserves better. 💔
Over the weekend, our team responded to a heartbreaking call. A Good Samaritan found a SEVERELY emaciated Great Dane curled up on the side of the road.
Describing their heartbreak over Miracle’s death, in spite of their best efforts to save him:
Miracle did his best to hold on as our team did everything they could, but he was too far gone by the time he got to us and tragically, he didn’t make it. He passed surrounded by staff members who had already gotten attached during their time caring for him. Someone had failed Miracle a long time ago, and it is devastating. But we are NOT letting his story end here.
The agency provided details that may help in the case:
JSO is aware of this case and our team of officers is actively investigating. We think that the dog might have been linked to the following addresses: 32244 Townsend area, 32210 103rd/Timuquana, 32277 Edenfield Rd, and W 45th 32208 area.
The puppy photo below is Miracle in 2023, taken at the pet store he was purchased from.

This dog did not “suddenly” become emaciated. This was purposeful neglect, and someone out there knows more. If you have any information about who is responsible for this dog’s death PLEASE email ANY information you have to ACPStipline@coj.net.
