Tulsa, Oklahoma – Three dogs were fatally shot by their owner, who told the authorities he killed them because he had to move and could only take one dog. According to the Tulsa Police Department, officers were called to a home on January 20 to assist animal control following a report that a man, identified as Peter Petrov, fatally shot his dog.
Police found two living dogs at the residence and an additional two deceased dogs in the backyard; the dead dogs had also been shot. In a release, the police said:
He admitted to shooting them and said that he did so because he was being forced to move to a location that only allowed him to have one dog.
Petrov was arrested on three counts of cruelty to animals and booked into the Tulsa County Jail. The surviving dogs were taken by animal control.

Here’s an idea. Shoot him and save the dogs. Not so many bullets needed, no suffering for the dogs. Better all round.

I moved basically across country from SD to AZ & took my 4 dogs & 2 cats with me. That’s a total BS excuse. He is a souless monster that deserves the exact same treatment. He won’t be missed.
No way I’m moving anywhere without my dogs either. But this man looks like a senior, probably moving to assisted living complex and might have no friends or family trustworthy enough to keep the dogs. He may have tried to rehome them but was turned down by everyone…which is typical with dogs who aren’t trendy purebreds. Not an excuse for shooting them, but not everyone has the same choices in life.
I wonder how many people in here worry for the 2 dogs that were taken by animal control, or if they’ll adopt them.

He could have taken them to the shelter and if they took them, a lot of shelters have no room, then they charge for owner surrender, so this is why people do crazy shit like this…they were turned down or would rather spend the money that the shelter would charge them on something else.
Very sad, he felt he had no choice and did this….
and I hope people are paying attention to the countries veterinary scam…private equity firms are buying up medical clinics-people AND veterinary clinics- pets and livestock and people are being charged usery fees to treat their sick animals and rescues. Mine was bought this past year and my vet quit…took early retirement and there was no way he was retirement age. spay and neuter has gone from around 140$ to 600$.. so if someone doesn’t investigate this more animals are going to be abandoned and shot or poisoned..

Not defending his actions in the slightest, but has anyone here ever tried to properly rehome an animal you’ve rescued? Unless a trendy “expensive purebred,” it’s almost impossible, even among “animal lovers” and rescue groups. It really is desperation time. But not THAT desperate, as to kill them.
It can be impossible to find a rental when you have multiple dogs, and he had to live somewhere, and the alternatives for the poor “extra” dogs are really slim, with some people only wanting dogs to abuse them. If he could have made the effort and had the time he could probably have found a place for him and all the dogs. Any place that wouldn’t let me and my dogs live there is not the place for me…but I have the “luxury” of being able to wait and choose.
Anyhow, dogs are far too good for “humans.”

Almost half of “shelters” are still death row prisons and the dogs in them are suffering, frightened and treated like criminals with almost half of them being killed and discarded like trash, and a few “adopted” by people who torture and kill them. Even no-kill shelters make occasional mistakes and adopt them to monsters.
He should not have done what he did, but you have no idea what the full situation was.
The ones that should be in those “shelters” are DOG BREEDERS of all kinds. Puppy mills are pure evil times a million. Not even ONE more dog should be purposely brought into this hell for $$$, ever!!!!!!!!!!!! Impossible dream. Thanks, “humanity.”

You have got me wrong. I am no way telling you off as you are no doubt thinking the same as hundreds of submitters here. And yes, I know what animal shelters are like. Mostly full all the time ! Maybe he had tried this – I don’t know but for a person to blow his faithful dog’s brains out and show no remorse afterwards has a serious problem that needs addressing. I wonder if he would have done the same if it had been young children?????? All animals have thoughts and feelings the same if not moreso than humans and would know something bad was about to happen. But to murder your own dogs like this is unforgivable! And— he would no doubt do it again as he seems to have no remorse and seemed like it was just a daily occurrence to him! “ I am having to move but can’t take my dogs’ ‘Oh I know, I’ll just shoot them (murder them) problem solved” !!! This prat needs a visit from a Vigilante group to show him the error of his ways! There are always alternatives so no excuses here.

What should be done with dog breeders in your view? They are much worse than this man. They’re the reason there is such a tragic surplus of dogs that they’re imprisoned, murdered, abused/tortured on the streets, etc., etc., every minute of every day, and why everyone who deserves dogs already has one or several rescues and why it’s so freaking impossible to find homes for stray dogs who aren’t status symbols. Are you concerned about the two dogs of his that were taken by animal control? What becomes of them there?

Did reply (27th Jan )but obviously the powers to be did not like what I put in my submission so looks like it has been deleted. If genuine people cannot have their say appertaining to animal torture and murder then what is the point. A few harsh words relating to what these scumbags are and what is needed to stop these sick brained humans. What a heartless and hateful individual to resort to killing an animal. His reasoning for doing it is totally unjustifiable. He is a cruel person and needs to be held accountable for his actions. Lock him up for as long as possible and never let him own another animal in his otherwise meaningless life.
