San Bernardino, California – The beautiful, young German shepherd who alerted humans to the presence of her newborn puppies in a dumpster is at risk of being killed. According to advocates, the three-year-old shepherd, Roxy, is on this week’s euthanasia list at the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter, and she will be put down if they are not placed with a rescue group in time.
An advocate reached out to National Animal News about the heartbreaking situation, writing in part:
I’m dismayed and devastated to report that Roxy and her three
surviving puppies have been given until 1/2/26 for placement at SBC. Otherwise they more than
likely will be killed. Three of her puppies have already died. Many of us in the FB facility pet community
(myself included) have aggressively networked Roxy and her babies.
Many of Roxy’s babies died at the facility and it is unclear if the survivors will be euthanized if and when Roxy is. Time is of the essence for this intuitive, intelligent dog. Please share her plight and help her get the life-saving attention she so desperately needs.

This is so wrong and rescue only for her, WTF is that about!? Is she vicious or what? Somehow I doubt it if she alerted people to her babies initially, so why make it even more complicated for her to get rescued by making her rescue only? Also killing a momma and babies is so morally wrong and evil that San Bernardino “shelter” and residents should feel ashamed of themselves about letting this momma and her babies die at all!!!! It’s not right and is heartbreaking. 😡😭
no dog should be killed for saving her own pups…. this is BS… she needs to be PULLED RIGHT NOW!!!!!! if they havent already killed her and her babies…. why do they even call themselves shelters…. they are MURDERERS…. plain and simple …. and dont tell me other wise….
