Downey, CA – A gorgeous German shepherd is at risk of having her life cut short at a crowded California animal shelter. The two-year-old dog, named Squeakers, has been at the Downey Animal Care facility since early May, but her time has run out.
On Tuesday, her advocate wrote a plea for help:
Squeakers an Amazing GSD needs a Forever Home, she’s Out Of Time‼️
She’s smart, beautiful, listens, plays with other dogs.
She’s not too big, she has a lovely coat that just needs a day at the spa.
She’s a gorgeous glamor girl, who is plug-and-play ready.

Squeakers is in the prime of her life, but she may not be allowed to enjoy that life if she is not rescued or adopted in time. A video at the shelter’s play yard shows her happily playing with other dogs – she is blissfully unaware that her days are numbered.

I am praying 🙏 that squeakers is adopted and is bright home 🏡 before it’s too late for her, she’s just a baby she’s only 2 years old please don’t give up on her she’s sweet playful etc and she deserves to be loved and to have a family adopt and love ❤️ her for the rest of her life. I am praying 🙏🙏💖 now and always that she finds a forever ♾️ home 🏡 and forever family ❤️❤️❤️ that will love her ♾️ I know that I would I would adopt her in a heart beat if I lived in LA and if I had a house with a yard and backyard for her to run and play around and in but I don’t I have a kitty 🐈 cat her name ls lily, she’s 6 years old she’s a 💕 love she was a rescue please someone rescue squeakers please she’s really just a baby she does not deserve to be put down 👇 all because there is no more room that’s just really wrong.

Anyone from California? maybe I can pay for adoption fee. I am in NYC and have 2 disabled rescues now. Would really love to have her but I don’t know how my blind dog will react to her.
She was dumped from her previous owners, because they had to move. Such a shame. What a gorgeous girl I know she’d make somebody an ultimate companion. I have two Dobermans, female, and just cannot cannot handle three girls. For sure there would be issues.
I would adopt her if I could get someone to transport her to Florida.
Why haven’t any rescues picked her up?!! Shelters should be just that!! Safe haven for pets. Shelters should never resort to killing healthy dogs because they are full. Who ever thought of killing pets/dogs in a shelter in the first place must have hated animals. And we ignorantly continue to do it!! Please reach out to rescues!! Put her on tv!! Send her to a shelter that is not full. I am sure someone will take her and I am sure she will find a home but you only gave it 1 month. Adult dogs always take a bit longer. Horrible!! Please help this dog and all the dogs at the shelter that are facing a death penalty!! 😭 makes me sick to think about someone draining the life from this dog for nothing that she did. Humans failed her once… now humans are going to fail her again!! 😡
Why hasn’t this shelter tried reaching out to Police,Sherriff, State Trooper to offer this dog? German Shepherd Rescue Group?
Do these shelters DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to try & find homes?
they would have to care enough to that which we know they don’t. they would also have to get off their ass and do some work and we know they won’t do that either. the modern way is to extinguish the problem not correct or help turn it around. sad, such a beautiful pup.
This precious dog deserves a good life with GOOD people! No human being has the right to decide that her life should be over, that’s absolutely cruel and inhumane! I wish I could adopt her, then she would be safe, but unfortunately I cann’t! I hope a good samaritan will give this sweet beauty a second chance on happiness!!! Please be careful and make sure she will be in good hands!!!
A shelter that kills animals is not a shelter — its a slaughterhouse. Please reach out to no-kill shelters that assist with placing dogs and cats. DO NOT TAKE THIS PRECIOUS GIRL’S LIFE.

I would love her, she’s my favourite breed of dog, ìt would be a sin to kill her!! Please don’t do that, she’s got a right to live, you wouldn’t kill a family member, just because your house is full!!!!
If you can arrange to get her to the UK, I would give her the best life ever, I have 5 rescued dogs, 2 came from Thailand and 3 from Romania, they are all ex street dogs and had terrible lives before they came to me! So Squeakers would have the life she deserves!!! My only problem is with money, I spent all my savings on bringing my 5 from the countries they lived in, so couldn’t help with the cost of getting Squeakers to the UK!!! PLEASE DON’T KILL HER, SHE IS ONLY A BABY!!!!
I couldn’t find her on their website. They have so many. I don’t see how there are any options when they only have so much money and space. When that’s gone, the dogs and cats are the ones who suffer. If people spayed and neutered their pets, it would help a lot. It’s heartbreaking.
