Forgotten In Shelter, Dog Has Spent 5 Years Without A Home

Little Ritchie was taken in as a stray in 2018 and he has been forgotten at the shelter.

Wantagh, NY – A dog who was taken in at a Wantagh, New York, animal shelter back in 2018 has just “celebrated” an anniversary that no homeless dog should celebrate…five years without a home. His name is Little Ritchie and he was taken in as a stray at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter in August 2018.

According to Little Ritchie’s shelter biography, he arrived with wounds to his head – what happened to him prior to being found as a stray is a sad mystery.

A portion of his biography reads:

Little Ritchie was not setting well in the kennel and our behavior team has worked on him throughout his stay here. Little Ritchie is looking for an experienced adopter that is going to continue giving him structure and work on his issues; guarding and sensitivity to handling.

Little Ritchie takes times to warm up to new strangers but with time, boy oh boy, we consider him to be a Velcro dog once he bonds to you. Little Ritchie just wants a yard to play in, with possibly another energetic playful dog.

You can help this forgotten shelter dog find a home of his own by sharing his adoption information. Someone out there is perfect for him!
