El Campo, Texas – A Texas family wants justice for their pet pig, Rosie, who was shot and killed this month by a stranger. As reported by Click 2 Houston News, the Janak family’s pig escaped from her yard on April 12, and someone in a truck decided to repeatedly shoot her.
The cruel incident was witnessed by one of the family’s neighbors, who tells the news agency:
“I saw a white pick-up truck, two-tone, blue and white, with a black hat rack and a black toolbox in the back. It was a four-door, newer model truck.”
The neighbor, Joe Soliz, tried to call Rosie away from the truck, but whoever was inside opened fire, shooting at Rosie a dozen times. The tame pig tried to get back home but she bled out before that happened. Her owner, Laura, said:
“She literally bled out. There was no saving her, no stitching her, no pulling a bullet or two. She suffered.”
Rosie joined the Janaks as a bottle-fed baby. She knew tricks and was house-trained, and she grew up with the family’s grandkids.
The malicious killing is under investigation by the Wharton County Sheriff’s Office. Tips can be made to (979) 532-1550. Texas Blessings Rescue is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest (979) 479-0627.
