Menands, NY – A puppy who nearly died while in the care of a “rescue agency” has finally recuperated enough to be adopted. The husky puppy, named Sprite, was near death when she was rescued from Empawthy Rescue Inc., and taken under the wing of the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in January.
Sprite was one of more than 100 animals rescued from Empawthy Rescue Inc. Though her condition was dire at the time she was seized, she showed her rescuers that she wanted to live.
This week, the animal welfare agency made the announcement that Sprite had recuperated enough to leave the shelter’s care and join a family. The organization said:
In January our Humane Law Enforcement team removed over 100 animals from Empawthy Rescue. One of them was a severely emaciated husky puppy and when they found her, they thought she was dead. When they saw her shallow breaths, she was rushed to Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital, where they immediately took measures to save her life.
This little fighter amazed us all with her will to survive! We named her Sprite and eventually placed her in a wonderful foster home.
Now she’s looking for a home to call her own.

If you’re considering adopting Sprite, here’s what you need to know:
🐾 She had a rough start medically and is on the mend. But we don’t know what future medical needs she may have.
🐾 She is a rambunctious girl and doesn’t know quite how to be a dog.
🐾 She lives in a foster home with other dogs and may do well with a patient dog friend her size or larger to show her the ropes.
🐾 She is very food motivated and already knows some commands, like sit and down.
🐾 She’d likely be fine with older kids who understand how to interact with dogs but she hasn’t had much exposure to them.
🐾 She is nervous about new experiences.

Precious little pup, and what a face! I hope she gets her deserved Heaven on Earth.
When any agency offers protections & safety to those who are helpless & then abuses them, this agency must be held doubly accountable for their fraud. A betrayal of trust beyond ethics. The fact remains that in January a Humane Law Enforcement team removed over 100 animals from Empawthy Rescue Inc. EMPAWTHY RESCUE must be closed down! Animal rescue agencies MUST be regulated, we need government, city or town officials to surprise’ visit these ‘rescue’ agencies because many of them are FRAUDS. I am sure good people, animal respecters would volunteer their services. Animal rescues have become EASY money for such owners who run their ‘easy money’ in donations. Such charltons do not give a damn about the animals. Empawthy management, owners must be charged! Make them pay a fine of $10,000. Not to open again under any other name. A life time ban on being around animals or working with animals. FRAUDS!
Of course there must be a life time ban and people should be charged with cruelty and given prison sentences. Too many poor animals suffer because there is no deterrent. These people are pure evil and care nothing about the pain and suffering they inflict, so it’s about time we stepped up to the mark and made it plain you will be punished!!!!
I am so sick of hearing about these stupid fake rescues who abuse innocent animals. These places need to be monitored to make sure they are legitimate and are truly there to help the animals.
