Maricopa County, Arizona – On January 4, a horse had to be humanely euthanized after being trapped for days in fencing on property in Buckeye. According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, the horse was malnourished and dehydrated and its pitiful condition warranted humane euthanasia.
In a release, the sheriff’s office said the horse was attended to for an hour by a veterinarian, but it could not be saved.

According to KPNX News, the owner of the horse eventually arrived at the site and consented to having the horse put down. After questioning, the owner was cited under the state’s “cruelty to animals” statute and released.
Sheriff Jerry Sheridan said that animal cruelty and neglect are taken very seriously and will not be tolerated. Telling the public, “If you see something, report it. 602-876-1011.”
