Youngstown, OH – An elderly dog forced to remain outdoors during extreme heat has died from heatstroke. According to Animal Charity of Ohio, the senior dog was left tethered outdoors, without shelter, while her owner went to the store.
By the time the dog’s owner returned, it was too late. When the dog’s internal temperature was taken, it registered a staggering 107.6°F — the maximum limit the thermometer could register. Sadly, the dog’s temperature was actually greater than 107.6 degrees.
The animal welfare agency said, “No animal should ever suffer like this.”
The group issued a warning to pet owners:
There is currently a Heat Advisory in effect, which began yesterday and continues through tomorrow night — with the temperature today feeling like 97°F. Bring your animals inside.
Dogs suffer and die in hot weather — even in short periods of time. Please, never leave your pets outside without proper shelter, water, shade, or supervision, especially during the summer.
Vowing to remember the elderly dog who did not survive:
We will never forget this girl. She deserved so much more.
According to the organization, an investigation is underway, and charges are pending.
Rest in peace.
Thanks for reading. We appreciate you!
