Cobb County, GA – Two people have been arrested after leaving a caged dog in the bed of a truck for 10 hours in the scorching heat. The dog suffered burns on his paws from being in the heat, on a day that reached the 90s, with no respite from the sun.
Police arrested Ebony Newell and Reginald Weems for aggravated animal cruelty and booked them into Cobb County Jail.

As reported by Fox 5 Atlanta, police found the pair inside a room at a motel off Interstate 20. Surveillance video from the motel confirmed the dog had been suffering in the heat for approximately 10 hours.
By the time the situation was noticed, the dog was clearly in distress from the heat, and a lack of water. The dog was rescued from the truck bed and taken to Cobb County Animal Services for care.

The rescued dog is receiving treatment and care at the animal services facility.
According to the news agency, Weems is also facing drug possession charges and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
