Sampson County, North Carolina – Dozens of dogs perished this week in a tragic building fire at a dog breeding operation in Sampson County. According to sources, the fire took place at the Black Creek Kennels breeding facility on Wednesday night.
Reports indicate 40 dogs and puppies were in the building when the fire broke out and approximately 30 of them are believed to have perished. The building where the dogs were housed collapsed.
Black Creek Kennels breeds boxers, cocker spaniels, and dachshunds. Sampson County Fire Marshal Prentice Madgar said the blaze appears to be a “tragic accident.”
Nobody was home at the time of the fire.

I’ve lost count of the various locations that have had awful fires in the last year! Dogs, cats, horses. Some were identified as “shelters”. some were “boarding” facilities, and the remainder were “breeding” facilities.
I’m no detective, but it seems odd that many of them conveniently do not have the owner there. If memory serves, there was one bad fire a month or so ago where the owner’s car was parked in front of the building, but s/he was nowhere to be found–at 2 a.m.!

I highly doubt this fire was an accident. No one was home, how convenient. All facilities housing animals should have someone there and have proper fire prevention. There’s no reason for all those dogs and puppies to have died so horrifically! I hope the individual(s) burn in hell for what they did! The horror those babies suffered is inexcusable!
Better yet, oulaw backyard breeding operations and make it illegal to operate a puppy mill of any kind. All those animals in one place and no sprinklers? Sprinkleres cost money and puppy mills do not spend on puppies, all money goes to the lazy abusive owners pockets, not to making life livable for the animals trapped in their care.
Solution: close these breeding hellholes down completely! It’s lowlife scum who are too lazy to get a job exploit innocent animals for their paychecks and then are cruel, mean and even as this, murdering them by the hundreds!!! Fine and prison these deranged bastards, get animals out and burn them to the ground. These places and people are just no damn good!

Most of these ‘so-called’ puppy breeders are just arrogant bastards who could not give a toss about the animals as they are just £ signs to them! The more they breed the more money they make. But these stupid up their arses buyers are as much to blame purchasing animals from these uncaring people in the first place!
But has to be “ Oh look at my new pedigree dog, isn’t he/she lovely and only cost me £3,000”! These are the fools who keep these puppy mills in business. Go to an animal shelter. Plenty of dogs needing caring homes for life! Puppy mills are unscrupulous breeding grounds with ‘£’ signs going through the owners head, If ‘stuck up’ fools would stop buying from these places then they would have to shut down. Give a rescue dog a home. DO NOT pay out silly money to these so-called breeders who treat the animals as ‘cash machines’. Many of these establishments are just torture chambers for the breeding dogs anyway. People power can easily stop this breeding for monetary gain. It is simple— DO NOT buy from these greedy people who put the innocent dogs feelings LAST.!!!

Breeding should be banned permanently! As you said, there are plenty of lovely dogs waiting for their forever home in shelters. High kill shelters should be permanently banned as well. A spay neuter programme must be initiated.
@ Gloria —- if there were no shelters for the already over population of dogs, and cats, where do u expect the throw away dogs to go…. be killed on the streets, staved to death, freezing to death….stuck in a back yard on a chain, forgotten, to become a big pack of roaming dogs that my attack and kill smaller animals and kids….theres not enough willing familys to take in dogs from the streets with their own home dogs…. shelters are for a reason…. they are to help, but some people dont adhere to the dog rules… so there are needs for shelters… and not all shelters are kill shelters…. u can scream and yell all u want for the mandatory spay and neuter but u are beating a dead horse on that… some people just dont get it… those are the ones that dont need dogs… as for breeders, there are good and bad… but they should only be able to have like 10 dogs at a time… ….

As far as dog or “pet” breeders, NO, there are NO good ones. THEY are entirely responsible for dog overpopulation. With no breeders in existence the shelters would all be no-kill and people would be competing to adopt the dogs…the way it should be!
Breeding facilities need to be banned. Because of these facilities, the shelters and rescues are overcrowded and dogs and cats are being euthanized because of it!!! STOP THE BREEDING FACILITIES!!!
Those poor dogs were just a commodity to the people who operated that place. All of those innocent lives lost most likely because the building wasn’t up to code, and no one could be bothered to stay home to look after them. One more example of why places like this should be outlawed.
