Poulsbo, Washington – In the early morning hours of January 16, a fire broke out at a Poulsbo home, killing dozens of dogs and cats. According to Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue, the blaze was reported around 2:30 a.m. by a neighbor of the residence located in the 1400 block of NE Paulson Road.
Responding firefighters found the structure fully engulfed. They were able to identify the homeowner by running plates on a vehicle parked outside – the individual was not home but arrived at the scene a short time later.
The individual identified himself as a “dog breeder.” Of the dozens of dogs inside, only three were saved.

As reported by KOMO News, an estimated 12 cats also perished in the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No word on the condition of the three surviving dogs.

New York has banned puppy mill dogs being sold in pet stores. With the shelters and rescues overflowing with dogs and cats, there is no room for breeders adding to the overpopulation. Take a walk through the crowded shelters where dogs are losing their minds being caged over 23 hours a day! Jail time and then community service at the local shelter!!!
I can’t say it enough: Animal breeders are demonic and need to be removed from society. This “person” needs to suffer the pain and misery endured by ALL of those dogs and puppies.
I’m also so sick and FED UP with scumbags only getting a slap on the wrist for the abuse and killing of animals!!!!
Fuck that shit, take the scumbag & jail him. he knew WTF he was doing. SICK & tired of the scums sucking shits getting away with this type of shit!! I’d smack the living daylights outta him
Is it me or has our species become more cruel and irresponsible? That this imbecile was allowed to breed animals she didn’t care for is unjustifiable and should be punished to the full extent of the law. And laws must be changed nationwide that more strictly act to prevent such cruelty in future with punishment that takes into consideration that animals, too, suffer and die painfully. And most crucially, animals must be recategorized as beings with rights for now they have few.
You’re absolutely right. It’s good that Animal Victory as well as other groups are reporting on such stories and holding people accountable for such carelessness and cruelty. Check out NhRP as well and what they are doing to fight for animals’ rights in court.
100% agree
did you see the dog that survivied…I think the ones who died lucked out….you can imagine the conditions they were living in…. this Breeder should be hung
i agree… that poor remaining dog was in poor poor condition…. and the ones that perished was the same id guess….it makes me sick that them poor dogs had to live and die like that…. hang that SOB by his balls….
They should demand that sites like this are required to install fire systems that would be activated by high heat and connected to fire houses for a quick response. Frankly I’m tired of breeders that do this .An active fire system with a fire suppression system would have saved these animals.
NOO this is so bloody sad. Poor animals locked in cages tells me wtf kind of human he is ! I am so sick to fckn death of the cruelty to all animals on this earth i truly am. This man needs investigating and made to stop breeding . Why breed when shelters are full and having to pts !!!!
people who breed animals are nothing but greedy ! why was the how ow e not how at 2 am?? These poor dogs and cats were all caged and could not escape the flames and smoke! They died terrified and in agony! Please hold this owner responsible for their deaths and prosecute him for each death! May they all rest in peace 🩷🐾😢🩵
Sounds like puppy mills. illegal. these precious animals suffered greatly. Charges must be brought. Full investigation. no fire safety
Cynthia: I will bet the farm that the “breeder” doesn’t live at that house! Yeah, his car was there, and he “arrived at the scene a short time later.”, but Just Where Was He? Again, I’ll bet the farm that he used that house as the “puppy mill”, and didn’t live there!
