China – This month, stolen dogs formed a pack and made their way back home, traveling approximately 10 miles on their own in an effort to find their families. It sounds like something straight out of Homeward Bound, but this time, it’s real.
After being stolen and separated from their families, seven dogs somehow found each other, formed a pack, and began an incredible journey back home.
As reported by The Sun, the dogs were spotted along the Changshuang Expressway. A passerby surnamed Lu captured the dog pack on video, telling a Chinese news outlet, “They resemble a band of little brothers in distress, moving in unison – nothing like stray dogs.”
One of the dogs, a Corgi, seemed to be the pack leader and a golden retriever the self-appointed guardian of the group.
Footage of the traveling dogs began circulating on social media and volunteers set out to find and capture the pups before they fell in harm’s way. Eventually all of the dogs were located and reunited with their grateful families, who feared they had been lost forever.
There is speculation that the dogs were taken from their homes and were destined for a meat farm. Those following the situation surmise the dogs escaped from a transport truck and formed a pack to safely travel back to their home village.
