Colorado Man Facing Felony Charges For Killing Mother Bear And Her Cubs

Howard, Colorado – A 52-year-old Colorado man is facing felony charges for killing a family of black bears near his home in Howard. According to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission, Paul Stromberg killed a mother bear and her two cubs before dumping their bodies on state trust land.

According to the news release, wildlife officials obtained a search warrant after receiving information about the poaching incident. On Saturday they searched Stromberg’s home in Howard and found evidence the bears had been shot there early on Monday, Sept. 25.

Stromberg was taken into custody and booked into the Fremont County Jail on assorted wildlife charges including a felony count of illegal destruction of wildlife and several misdemeanors including unlawful killing of wildlife without a license, unlawful possession and waste of game meat.

Convictions could result in fines and surcharges ranging from $750 to $13,000 and up to 6 months in jail, depending on the charge.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact CPW at its Salida office at 719-530-5520.

  1. Sack of shit man, hope he spends time before bars, loses his hunting license for life and he pays full restitution for taking the bears illegal. Why did he do it? Just enjoy killing things? People like this are scum and need to be put down.
