Sad Dog Giving Up After Living Half His Life At Shelter

Portsmouth, OH – A sad dog named Will appears to be giving up after living half of his at an Ohio animal shelter. The three-year-old dog seems to know that nobody wants him. Recently, a volunteer at the Sierra’s Haven For New And Used Pets Shelter said that Will was too sad to move.

In a poignant Facebook post, the shelter explains:

Today, it seems like he has given up… 💔😔

A volunteer went by his kennel and he never moved. He never even turned to look… Will remained curled up, eyes looking away, without ever moving his tail.

The shelter said that Will used to be excited to see people – when someone would approach his kennel, he would bark, wag his tail, and jump up as he sought out attention. But Will has learned that his desperate quest to be loved is not paying off.

The shelter writes:

Will needs to be the only fur baby in the home, and would do better with older children as he is (typically) so excited. He has had a rough life, so he does require patience and training, but he is a sweet boy once given a chance.

He is the type of dog that bonds to his person. Let’s help Will find that person! 🥹🧡

Can you please help this young dog find the love that he desperately wants? By sharing his adoption information you can get his adoption information out to more people.

  1. You wonder why the dog is sad? Look at his kennel. No bedding for him to lay on or toys to play with. He’s sitting in a barren concrete jail. I would be depressed too if I was him. The shelter needs to do better with providing enrichment and comfort to such dogs. The shelter also needs someone to walk dogs like this so they can get out of their cage a couple of times a day and into the sunshine and feel grass under their feet. This dog feels rejected and lonely. The shelter should also have a play area where dogs that are social can go to be outside with their own kind and play off leash. Poor dog, I hope someone sees his plight and helps.

    • He is clearly primarily concerned about this poor dog, you judging him personally is worse then his attempt to suggest ways to help with this dogs depression. Ideally perhaps it will find someone to adopt or volunteer to help at the shelter. Your critism of him however is a reflection of your lack of concern about the dog. Lol a female dog is not the only one I would call ƁITCH !!!

  2. I agree with all responses! Yes, a blanket under the body anf on top for warmth. Such a beautiful fur baby.
There must be someone even to foster until a private home is recognized.
i am not requesting much! It all totals to something more comfortable and somewhere to play!!
