Hesperia, California – Brave rescuers risked their lives to save a German shepherd who was stranded on a cliff near a raging river in Hesperia. On Monday, a hiker discovered the dog high on the rocky hillside and tried to coax him down to safety, but the dog was too frightened to comply.
The woman reached out for help to Animal Advocacy and Iron Paw Rescue, and heroic rescuers set out to save the stranded dog. Saving the dog, since dubbed River, required crossing the swift water and once on the other side, they were able to coax the dog to safety. But the fast-moving water was too dangerous to cross again, and the rescuers found themselves in need of rescue.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to help safely remove the dog, and his rescuers, from the dangerous situation. River is now safe, thanks to those who braved the dangerous waters to save him. It is unclear how he became stranded on the hillside.
