Box Of Adorable Kittens Abandoned Outside Animal Shelter

Victoria, BC – A litter of kittens was abandoned in a cardboard box that was left at the front door of the BC SPCA’s Victoria animal centre. According to the shelter, five four-week-old kittens were in the box…they could be heard crying out for their mom.

In a press release, the shelter said:

Luckily, they were found by one of the staff just minutes after they were abandoned based on security camera footage. Unfortunately, the person who abandoned the kittens and their vehicle were out of frame.

Emma Hamill, manager of the BC SPCA’s Victoria animal centre said:

“Thankfully, they were all healthy but too young to be away from their mom.”

Adding:

“The kittens continue to need syringe feeding until they are about eight-weeks-old when they can eat all they need on their own.”

The kittens are currently in foster homes and they will be ready for adoption in two weeks.

  1. Why don’t people actually have the balls to go inside these rescues or shelters and present the animals face to face with the people who work there. In this case they were taken in right away but leaving them like this and hoping that they will be okay is risky for all kinds of reasons. For Gods sake people don’t do this- take them inside – the people who run the shelters are not judgemental :they are only interested in helping the animals.

  2. May all of these sweet kittens find loving permanent homes with people who will love and care for them very well.
I work in feline advocacy and this happens very frequently. Universal spay/neuter and humane education about valuing other living beings and adopting as FAMILY, never “pets,” would make this very rare. It needs to happen and it needs to be prioritized above all else.

  3. I’m so glad these babies were taken in immediately. Prayers for them to grow healthy and strong and to be adopted into loving homes. ❤️

  4. There should be mandatory spay neuter laws nationwide. This is how to stop the out of control breeding that goes on and leads to over crowding in shelters and animals being put to sleep. The person that dumped these kittens, probably kept the mom cat and they probably won’t fix her so they will be back again with more kittens the following season.
