Amazing Survival: Rescuers Pull Dog Free From Rubble 23 Days After Devastating Earthquake

Akcurun, Turkey – A resilient dog has beaten the odds in Turkey, amazingly surviving in the rubble caused by devastating earthquakes that rocked the area weeks days before he was found. As reported by Al-Monitor, the husky, Alex, was rescued this week after his groans were heard by people scouring the area searching for a spot to put up temporary shelters for survivors.

A massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked Turkey and Syria on February 6 causing widespread destruction and a massive loss of life. In the weeks that followed, thousands of aftershocks have been recorded.

The death toll has topped 51,000 and countless people were injured and left homeless.

According to BNO News, the husky has been reunited with his owner.

    • The story says 23 days! That’s over 3 weeks! I don’t know how he survived that long without water, but I am thrilled he was reunited with his family .

      • Darn it; I left off the 3! Wish they had an edit/delete function here. Two days would’ve been nothing compared to 23. Thanks for pointing that out. I haven’t seen where he was reunited with his family, but of course I hope so, and that they’re good people.
