Harris County, Texas – A classically beautiful German shepherd named Kona is waiting to be saved at the Harris County Pets facility in Houston, Texas. The two-year-old shepherd is all smiles in her video – she is apparently unaware of the dire situation she is in.
Kona was brought in as a stray on January 2 and in the weeks that have passed, nobody has come forward to claim her. Unfortunately, unwanted pets at the facility have a short period of time before they are put down.
The Houston and Harris County Animal Volunteers Facebook page writes:
The shelter has changed their euthanasia policy resulting in losing dogs without warning on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.‼️
1/18-Kona is smiling, her tail is wagging and she’s on her best behavior because she’s ready to find a foster or forever home. Per our videographer, she’s very soft and appears to be pretty chill. Kona is patiently waiting for ONE person to change her life!
German shepherds are intelligent, devoted, faithful companions. Whoever steps forward to save Kona’s life will be repaid with years of unparalleled companionship and love. Please share Kona’s information and help save her life.

UPDATE per FB post: 🌀1/27-Kona is out of the shelter with a rescue group!
What pisses me off is that there are still animal shelters that still euthanize!! What the hell is wrong with society that it thinks it is okay to euthanize an innocent creature because of what careless and disgusting so-called humans have done. It is the responsibility of the so-called humans to spay/neuter an animal so that this problem of unwanted animals does not occur. Maybe euthanize humans rather than the innocent souls. Humans are the problem!!!
There must be mandatory neutering of all pets NOW!! SOCIETY AND TAX $$ ARE PAID TO CLEAN UP AFTER IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERS AND GREED BASED BREEDERS HAVE PRODUCE ALL OF THESE SWEET BABIES!!! GREED BASED AKC DOES EVERYTHING TO STOP MANDATORY NEUTER IN ORDER TO KEEP MAKING HUGE PROFITS ON THE BACKS OF SUFFERING ANIMALS AND TAX PAYERS!!
This facility and facilities like it need to change their ways. Let’s stop the euthanasia of animals in shelters. There are organizations like Best Friends Animal Society who will work with places like this so that euthanasia isn’t the answer.

I had a German Shepherd: they are extremely gentle dogs, very attached to their owners, and so easy to live with. Kona is only 2 years old! She still has many years ahead of her! We urgently need a home for her because it’s Wednesday, January 21st, which is a day when euthanasias are carried out :-(. And Friday will follow: same thing, the day of the end of life… Any news about Kona, please? Has your ad generated any adoption offers?…
please someone give this dog a home, German shepherd dogs are so loyal and loving a beautiful addition to anyone’s family that want a dog
