Ontario, California – A sweet, albeit shy older German shepherd is at high risk right now after he was put on the euthanasia list at the Animal Resource Center of the Inland Empire. The eight-year-old shepherd, Earl, has been at the facility since June, but his time there has run out.
Earl’s advocate writes:
EUTHANASIA DEADLINE: TODAY, JULY 8 BY 5:00 PM
EARL NEEDS A HERO
When I visited Earl, he was so shy. He would retreat to the back of his kennel on his short little special legs, quietly watching me from a distance.
After about 10 minutes, he started to gather the courage to come closer. He would gently take treats from my hand, but the smallest noise would startle him, sending him back to the safety of the rear of his kennel where he would sit and watch me again.
Then, when he felt brave enough, he would slowly make his way back to the front for another treat.
He is not barking. He is not bothering anyone. He is simply an older dog who is frightened and trying to make sense of a loud, unfamiliar shelter.
Earl has some vision loss, and his body doesn’t work quite the way it did when he was younger. But he is still alive and in need of someone who can allow him to live out the natural remainder of his days – surrounded by love and comfort.
Please act quickly on behalf of this older boy. He has little time left.
