Cleveland, TN – A small dog was found alive not far from where he was apparently picked up by a hawk and carried away from a doggie daycare facility in Cleveland, Tennessee. The Pawz N’ Clawz daycare notified Facebook followers on June 1 about the freak incident, writing:
Good Evening Pawz N’ Clawz Family…
We wanted to inform you of a tragic accident that occurred yesterday at our facility. During the morning kennel, one of our employees let our small dogs out in to their yard to potty. (Unless a dog has a tagged account that states they are an “escape risk”, they are let out into a yard to potty not on a leash) While they were pottying, she went to clean another area and was within ear range. Within that time, a hawk swooped down and picked up a 3 pound yorkie. We have been looking for him in hopes to recover his body or by chance he got away.
Never in almost 3 years have we ever had anything like this happen. Our fences for those little guys are completely fenced in and solid.
A Cleveland resident found the teacup Yorkie on Saturday, noting that he seemed to be “sickly-looking,” reports WTVC News. The dog, Max, was only about a quarter mile from where he disappeared. The dog was taken to a veterinarian and appears to be okay after the ordeal.
According to the news source, Max’s owners intend to sue the doggie daycare facility. The business said:
Praise Update:
We are so thankful to hear Max is found safe and with family. At this time, we will have no comments due to the fact the article released by News Channel 9 stated the family has threatened a lawsuit. Thank you for all your prayers for this sweet fur baby. Our main concern was for his safe return!
