West Palm Beach, Florida – A Florida woman is facing a felony charge of aggravated animal cruelty after her Yorkshire terrier, King, had to be humanely euthanized because of extreme starvation and neglect. On Thursday, 33-year-old Charlynn Marseille was arrested for the ongoing neglect of her seven-year-old dog.
As reported by WPBF News, officers with the Palm Beach Animal Care & Control agency responded to Specialty Animal Hospital in Royal Palm Beach on October 2. The ailing dog had been brought to the veterinary hospital earlier that day and was in critical condition.
Dr. Gina Zeitlin, who treated King, told investigators that King had no body fat, was infested with fleas, matted, and exhibited signs of chronic malnourishment; at the time he was taken to the veterinary hospital, he was in respiratory and cardiac distress. Despite life-saving measures, King could not be saved.
Marseille was booked into Palm Beach County’s Community Policy facility.
