Morocco – Upwards of three million dogs will be culled in Morocco in advance of the 2030 FIFA World Cup. According to sources, the stray dogs will be killed in an effort to “enhance tourism” for the huge soccer event.
As reported by Global South World, the killings are already happening, with an estimated 300,000 dogs being culled yearly. The unwanted dogs are reportedly being taken out via poison, guns, and inhumane slaughterhouses.
Though animal lovers and animal rights activists have been fighting for the cruel killings to stop, the International Animal Welfare Protection Coalition (IAWPC) estimates that around 10,000 dogs a week are being slaughtered across Morocco.
Animal Welfare agencies are pleading with FIFA to step in and bring the dog killings to an end, but thus far, FIFA seems to be turning a blind eye to what is happening.
