Miami, FL – An 8-foot-crocodile has been given a new lease on life after being found with a spear in her head earlier this week. Zoo Miami took the injured crocodile in after she was found in the Keys on Tuesday with a spear protruding from her skull.

On October 21, Zoo Miami released photos of the rescued crocodile, and stated that a criminal investigation is underway, and noting that a bullet was also found in her skull:
Today, our veterinary team led by Dr. Gwen Myers performed a remarkable rescue surgery on an 8-foot female crocodile found with a spear lodged in her skull. Dr. Myers successfully removed the spear, and the animal is now stable and recovering. Sadly, X-rays also revealed a bullet in her head. A criminal investigation is now underway by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). 💚🐊
Zoo Miami has stated that their goal is to return the crocodile to the wild when she has recovered from her injuries.
