Manchester, CT – A Connecticut woman has been arrested and charged for allegedly securing a dog to a tree in the woods and leaving him to die. According to the South Windor Police Department, 26-year-old Janiya Bradford was arrested on May 16 for abandoning her dog on April 22.
The dog, Kobe, was found off a trail at the Neiderwerfer Wildlife Sanctuary; the dog’s collar was secured around a large tree branch and he was unable to break free.
Desmond’s Army offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and charges. Bradford has been released on a non-surety bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on June 5.
Kobe was taken to an area animal shelter for care until he was available for adoption. He has been described as a “very sweet” dog.

When I read or hear of a dog that is abandoned or not only abandoned but tied in a way he can’t move, I go to shaking my head like this is unbelievable!! But it isn’t unbelievable, because someone found the dog and got him to a shelter just in time!! THIS gracious stupid IDIOT needs to be tied, no food or water, and left just like the dog was!! Not allow anyone to answer her calls, let her scream for several days, I’ll bet she would change that determined mind of hers!! But she did tie this dog and not only that but tied his collar to a branch and left!! The IDIOT deserves no less than a $500,000 fine, an order that she cannot own or be around any dog for life and she will be checked, and 20 yrs in jail to be served every day!! If she doesn’t get this, then she can always take the tying to a tree and left there until she changes her mind!!!
