Conway, South Carolina – An investigation into possible dog fighting in Horry County led to the arrest of two people and the seizure of 33 dogs on April 15. According to sources, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Prentice Shiobhan Jackson, 47, with 33 counts of ill treatment of animals, 16 counts of animal fighting or baiting and criminal conspiracy. Rontisha Elena Huggins-Jackson, 48, was also arrested and is charged with criminal conspiracy.
SLED officials found 33 dogs on the property. Many of the dogs were underweight and/or injured or recovering from injuries. A veterinarian on site said that the dogs were kept in “conditions consistent with dogfighting operations and showed scarring consistent with dogfighting injuries,” reports WRHI News.
Officials found dogs living on heavy logging chains, tethered to trees and plastic shelters, or in dirty pens with no access to clean food or water.
Both men were booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Horry County; the case will be prosecuted by the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Those involved in this barbaric activity represent the very worst of mankind. They aren’t humans, they are monsters who methodically torture dogs. As someone who has adopted several pups from this background after they were rescued, I’d love to see those involved in it to suffer like no human has suffered before. They deserve to be torn apart so they can experience what those innocent dogs do. Sadly there are crimes against humans that are without pre-mediation yet end up with 20+ years of prison while those who get are convicted of dog fighting seem to get a slap on the wrist. This needs to change. Torturing animals should result in the same penalties as torturing humans. Bless all those dogs.

I hope they are convicted of every count and each count sentence to be served consecutively rather than concurrently. They need a lifetime ban on even being in the presence of another animal AND lifetime placement on an Animal Abuser Registry, which South Carolina and EVERY state needs to implement to prevent these despicable individuals from simply moving somewhere else and starting yet another dog fighting operation and yet more victims of their cruelty.
