Savannah, Georgia – A dog adopted from a Coastal Georgia rescue organization left the agency in good health in 2024. When her adoptive family returned her to Coastal Pet Rescue this week because they were moving, she was skin and bones.

The rescue agency shared a photo of the dog, Zep, writing:
You want to know why rescues ask so many questions at adoption? This is why. Zep was adopted from us in May 2024. On the left is her out on a field trip with a volunteer before adoption, on the right was how she was returned to us last night because they were moving.

Despite the extreme neglect Zep obviously endured, she was still wagging her tail and asking for attention.
Zep is at the veterinarian, receiving desperately needed care. Her former owner’s information has been turned over to Chatham County Animal Services to be reviewed for possible charges.
Thank goodness Zep’s family moved, or she may not have survived much longer.
