Dearborn, Michigan – A Michigan teenager is accused of causing severe and catastrophic injuries to a two-year-old dog who was so badly injured that humane euthanasia was the only option. According to a news release from the Dearborn Police Department, officers responded to a residence on Chicago Street after receiving multiple 911 calls about a dog being “violently assaulted” inside the home.
According to the release, officers found the “dog suffering from severe and catastrophic injuries.” The wounded dog was rushed to an area veterinarian, but the injuries were “too extensive to survive.”
Following the investigation, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office charged 18-year-old Singin Nelson with Killing/Torturing an Animal – Second Degree. Nelson was arraigned before Judge Salemy and issued a $250,000.00 cash bond.
Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin stated, “Our officers were confronted with an extremely disturbing case of animal abuse, and this level of cruelty will not be tolerated in our community. We are committed to thoroughly investigating these incidents and holding those responsible fully accountable under the law.”
Nelson’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 10, 2026, at 10:00 am in the 19th District Court.

Time and time again, it has been PROVEN that those who willfully harm innocent animals often have the penchant to harm people as well! They often begin with the voiceless animals then proceed to the young, weak and elderly humans. this is just another example of why we need to implement an animal abuser registry in every state in the US and every country around the world. as it stands now, there is nothing to stop this individual from Simply moving somewhere else and repeating the same abhorrent behaviors. an animal abuser registry would allow this person to be held truly accountable because law enforcement, veterinarians, shelters, rescues, average citizens could see who is not supposed to be around animals and why. it’s time for accountability and it’s time to protect these innocent creatures that have no voice and cannot defend themselves against someone so violent.
