Tattooed Cat, Rescued From Mexican Prison, Has Been Adopted

Mexico – The hairless cat recently rescued from a prison in Mexico has been adopted. The three-year-old Sphynx was tattooed with the words, “Hecho in Mexico,” by inmates at the Cereso 3 prison in Ciudad Juárez.

After being rescued, government officials set out to find him a new home. A special committee was tasked with sorting through the deluge of applications and choosing who the cat should spend the rest of his life with.

According to multiple sources, the cat has been adopted by someone in the United States, and that person’s identity is being kept under wraps.

  1. People abuse animals overboard. It just gripes me. We need stricter and harsher animal abuse laws. Here we are in 2022, and it’s time to start pushing harder laws.

  2. What was the cat doing in the prison I have to wonder. Made in Mexico maybe but thankfully now living somewhere else, or at least with kinder people.

    • Mexican prisons aren’t built like US prisons. Many are open air and prisoners can even cook their own food, they wear their own clothes and wash them. Animals can even go in and out. Womens prisons even have children living there. Family member bring them food etc.

  3. Good thing here is the poor cat finally found a proper and loving home and that is a good outcome. Given the circumstances you can’t wish for better than that.More punitive.much harsher laws against animal cruelty would be a Godsend but they would have to be universal to be effective, not just locally applied and would have to probably be enacted from the highest court in the land to once again have any real impact and I don’t see that coming anytime soon if ever. Unfortunately we are stuck with local judges giving out what is hit and miss punishment given how seriously they consider animal cruelty to be and that sucks for the animals and no long time deterrent to the perpetrators.

    • They will melt down a checker for the ink and a battery and any device that is a motor along with anything sharp that they can tape to the device. They get really creative even when they can be poisoned. It’s disgusting.

  5. I come here to sign petitions that hopefully will help these babies, but honestly, I cannot for the life of me understand why people do these horrible things.

  6. Inmates in other countries AND in the US do horrible horrible things to cats. They need to make sure no cats are around where inmates can touch them unless it is a special program and only certain ones are actually taking care of animals.
