East Brookfield, MA – A Massachusetts animal shelter is struggling with a massive intake of cats and kittens from one home. On Tuesday, Second Chance Animal Services said:
Our adoption center was already full—now we’ll have 52 more (adorable) mouths to feed, 52 spay/neuter operations to perform + all expenses related to caring for them while they await new homes.
As reported by Boston 25, the felines were in the care of a “well-intentioned local resident” who had to surrender them because of a personal medical situation. According to shelter staff, none of the cats were altered.
Danielle Bowes, the shelter’s foster coordinator and adoption counselor tells the news agency the cats were clearly loved, “These cats are remarkably well socialized. Many of them came right to the front of the cage for head boops.”
The cats are being treated for respiratory infections and will be altered as soon as they are healthy enough to undergo surgery. When they have recovered, they will be made available for adoption.

I don’t care how well intentioned this person is; no one needs 52 cats.
