Gordon County, Georgia – A Georgia man is accused of luring his neighbor’s service dog from her yard and then fatally shooting her. The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office issued a news release about the cruelty case, announcing the arrest of 39-year-old Joshua Brown:
On or about April 13, a private citizen from the Resaca community reported to the Sheriff’s Office that her pet/service dog was missing and was believed to have been maliciously killed. Detectives initiated an investigation which resulted in the arrest of JOSHUA BROWN, age 39 of Resaca, Georgia.
The authorities booked Brown into jail on a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals.
The slain dog, Coco, belonged to the Pack family, who live near Brown. Vanessa Pack tells Local News 3 that Coco vanished from her yard in mid-February, and all attempts to find her were fruitless. Eventually, someone reached out to one of Vanessa’s sons and told him that Joshua Brown show Coco in the head and then dragged her body to the woods.
Pack tells the news agency,
“I think not knowing what happened might have been better than knowing, honestly, what’s happened to her. I would have never left her out there, and we love her, and if I could change anything, I would.”

this waste of oxygen is exactly why I have been advocating for an animal abuser registry. even if convicted of the crime that he has been charged with, unless he is placed on an animal abuser registry which every state and every country needs to implement, there is absolutely nothing to stop him from Simply moving somewhere else and doing something similar to another defenseless animal. unless somebody runs his criminal history, no one would ever know that he was convicted or even charged with such a crime. placement on an animal abuser registry would not only allow law enforcement but also rescues, shelters, veterinarians, even average citizens to look up who isn’t supposed to be around animals and why. just like people can access information on a sex offender registry, an animal abuser registry would provide information so that people can take steps to protect these innocent beings from being harmed by people like him with that stupid smirk on his face. I hope he is sentenced to the maximum under the law with any additional count sentences to be served consecutively rather than concurrently. I hope there is accountability via an animal abuser registry. that would certainly wipe that stupid smirk off his face.

In addition to serving time, I hope the family hits him with a big, fat lawsuit. Not only were his actions pure evil, but service dogs take time and money to train and the waiting list for them is huge. He not only broke this person’s heart, but caused them a whole load of hardship and disruption to boot. He deserves the Jeffrey Dahmer treatment from his fellow inmates!
