Sioux Falls, South Dakota – Cory D. Martinson, a man with a twisted propensity for strangling cats and kittens, has been sentenced to five years in prison. Martinson has been killing cats for years. In 2023 he admitted to strangling three cats. In 2024, he killed another four kittens by “backhanding them in the forehead with his knuckles.” Additional cats who had been in his possession disappeared and are presumed dead.
Martinson will now spend years in prison for the atrocities he committed. On Oct. 10, Judge Susan Sabers sentenced the cat killer to five years behind bars. In a news release, Minnehaha County State’s Attorney Daniel Haggar said:
“This sentence sends a clear message: our community will not tolerate the abuse or neglect of animals. Every living creature deserves to be treated with respect, and in this case, justice was served.”
Animal Victory contributed to this massive animal cruelty victory with its petition, which garnered over 21,000 signatures from animal lovers outraged by his despicable crimes. Animal Victory said:
“We are ecstatic that this habitual animal abusing criminal will be spending years behind bars. We applaud the District Attorney’s office for taking this case seriously and standing up for the voiceless victims who cannot defend themselves. We believe this sentence sends a strong message that animal abuse will not be tolerated.”
