Mokena, Illinois – A senior dog named Peppermint thought she had a forever home. Four years ago she was adopted from NAWS Humane Society and she enjoyed being a family dog. But her family decided that she could not stay with them anymore because they wanted to have a baby.
Peppermint was returned to the shelter and they discovered that her eyes were so badly damaged from glaucoma that they needed to be removed.
This senior girl has lost her family, her home, and her eyes. The shelter describes Peppermint as a loving girl, writing:
This girl is so loving and sweet and she is just so sad to be back in the loud shelter environment. Peppermint loves cuddles and collecting toys and she is all for the belly rubs! She loves to go on walks. This little lady has grown up with tiny kiddos in the home and loves them!
According to shelter staff, Peppermint should be the only pet in the home, making her chances of being adopted even more slim. Will you please help her find a committed, loving new family?
