Police Seek Answers: Someone Ran Away, Leaving Horse To Die On College Campus

Baton Rouge, LA – The authorities are seeking answers after someone left a tethered horse to die at Southern University. According to sources, someone rode a horse onto campus on Monday night and then fled when the horse collapsed.

The horse died in front of the university law school.

The identity of the person who was riding the horse remains unknown, and the horse did not have identifying marks to help determine ownership.

According to the authorities, the horse will NOT undergo a necropsy to determine the cause of death, but the incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to reach out to animal control at (225)-774-7700.

    • We don’t know what happened. The horse may have collapsed and been left there as the rider didn’t know what else to do. It may have had a heart attack (I have had a horse suddenly drop dead in a paddock with a heart attack). There is nothing to suggest they actually hurt the horse, deliberately. The worst suggestion is abandonment if they tied it up hoping someone else would take care of him/her.
