Grapevine, TX – This week, the Grapevine Police Department issued a press release regarding the arrest and charges associated with the discovery of a dead dog outside of a Super 8 Motel in late January. According to the department, 36-year-old Vanadus Green is facing a felony animal cruelty charge for starving the dog to death.
According to the authorities, Green abandoned a starved dog by a dumpster outside of the Super 8 hotel off SH-114. A Grapevine Animal Services Officer responded to the location on January 26 and discovered an unresponsive dog. The dog was transported to a veterinarian where it was declared deceased.
The animal services officer took the dog’s body back to the shelter where an exam revealed abrasions on the dog’s body, an open wound on the head, and a skeletal body. The dog was sent for a necropsy. The authorities released the findings:
The findings returned that the dog died of starvation. The animal’s bone marrow indicated a fat percentage of 9%. The normal range for a dog is 65-98% body fat in the bone marrow. The necropsy also revealed that the starvation period was prolonged, and the dog would have been suffering the entire time. Other injuries were also found on the animal that appeared to be less than a week old.
Over the course of the investigation, police found surveillance video from the motel showing Green dragging the emaciated dog through the hallways and to the back parking lot.
The authorities said, “Grapevine Police and Grapevine Animal Services worked diligently to identify the person responsible for the dog and collect evidence proving the dog was tortured. An arrest warrant was drafted, and officers arrested Green on February 28, 2024.”

When are these vicious, evil crimes going to get proper treatment and severe sentences? Anyone capable of such sadism and evil is definitely a serious danger to everyone. Yet there is so much animal cruelty, torture and murder every day that is perfectly legal. So people have quite the dilemma when it comes to punishing the illegal acts which are often less heinous than the legal ones so many people gladly condone and fight for. The human race has a whole lot of collective, heinous crimes to answer for.
When someone intentionally inflicts any kind of harm to an animal, especially as horrible as this guy did to that defenseless little dog. This sorry POS better see the harshest sentence ever for this act.

I just wish we had someone to delete these nasty pieces of trash…since the courts don’t seem to understand that murder is murder …weather it be human or animal..it is still murder…and the courts need to stand up against animal abuse! We are all sick of a slap on their wrists and nothing gets done…and the pos’s go back out and do it again..the judges need to wake up to what is happening to animals…and prosecute equally to the crime they committed to an animal….then maybe things will change.

It’s a known fact that Texas has no real animal protection laws. It so sad but true. Until animals become legally recognized as having rights equal to man when it comes to abuse and cruel treatment, heinous acts like this will continue. We must put some teeth in our laws when it comes to animal abuse…no more misdemeanors and a mere slap on the wrist.
