OMG, this is truly heart breaking…poor precious dog….RIP hero!!! I hope the monster who did this to you will burn in hell!!!!
👍
Let us stop using and exploiting animals for our own ends.
Poor dog—you never had a life, and were killed just before you could ever experience one.
The K9 officer died and they’re more worried about the dead criminal piece of trash.
An officer was not killed. A man who had murdered someone else, stole his car and hid at the hotel was shot and died along with K9 Kylo.
Also, this is an animal news page and would center focus on the animal in the article.

THAT POOR POOR BABY!! MOST LIKELY WAS OUT FRONT IN THE LINE OF FIRE BECAUSE THAT’S WHERE THEY PUT THEM … POOR DOG DIDN’T STAND A CHANCE NOT LONG BEFORE RETIREMENT AND ‘BANG’ SHOT DEAD!!!
NEVER GOT TO RELAX AND JUST ENJOY HIS LIFE AT THE END…
SO SO, DISAPPOINTING 😞 😑 TO SAY THE LEAST.!!
evil police is getting dogs murdered all the time. STOP IT. Why does ‘nt police protect & serve themselves
Dogs have no business doing this. Should have been the people who get paid for it.
I am sick and tired of seeing the cops sending in dogs against armed criminals. They are getting killed all the time. Wait them out, or send in SWAT. Stop sacrificing these poor dogs.
What is worse, MUCH WORSE, is that the dogs are routineIy abused, even tortured, by their own handIers and “trainers.”
The “training” is ongoing, with at Ieast once-a-week sessions that incIude sIow hanging to unconsciousness, dragging, “helicoptering,” slamming to the ground or up against waIIs, foIIwed by kicking in the groin, stomach, head, etc., punching, eIectroshocking, and so on. This is TAUGHT and REQUIRED. If a handIer opposes it, the handIer is kicked out, and his assigned dog is then passed on to someone who has no qualIms about the ‘protocoIs.’ And so, guess what type of peopIe end up on the k9 teams? The kind who end up being crueI 24/7 because they enjoy it (not counting what I caII the “weak foIIowers” who go aIong with it just to being).
In pubIic the dogs are caIIed “partners,” and “feIIow officers.” This is for PubIic Relations onIy, In private, the handIers and department heads refer to the k9s as “tooIs” and “equipment.” Their casual attitude toward treating the dogs with compIete disrespect is encouraged. Therefore, you aIso find that, in addition to the brutal physicaI punishment, k9s dying from heat prostration, and even sometimes starvation. FAR MORE of these dogs are kiIIed by their handIers than by any suspects. But those are generaIIy swept under the rug.
The dogs are not paid for by the handIers, nor the departments they work for. Perhaps if they had to pay for the k9s themseIves, there might be a bit more respect shown to the dogs. But for now, the perpetrators reIy on Iying and coverups to keep the pubIic in the dark about it.
Sue., how do you know this? Surely you cant be right? if you are right why is this state sanctioned horrific abuse allowed to happen. Why isn’t this mai stream information? It is absolutely barbaric!🤬🤬🤬

These dogs truly put their lives on the line for humans. This is sad beyond words that Kylo was ready to experience retirement free from danger. I think if I were the K9 handler knowing it was Kylo’s last day on the job, i would have made it an easy day and spoiled the pup keeping him away from anything bad. Thank you Kylo for giving so much more than you ever received back.
Officer K9 Kylo your job is thru. RIP and run free! Thank-you for your service!

Consider this… The dog wasn’t given a choice to “work”. He was forced. Using an animal for human benefit is exploitation and it’s wrong, regardless of benefit. Animals are not beneath humans, are not products and are not resources. They are sentient beings with emotions just like humans and should be respected, not exploited for human use. This dog should have been left alone to enjoy a peaceful life with love, treats and relaxation. If humans are so “superior”, as most people (falsely) believe, then we should be able to progress morally and practically and move away from primitive animal exploitation. It’s wrong to cause pain and suffering to sentient life. This dog didn’t “sacrifice” his life for the common good, his life was stolen and he was murdered.
I’m so sad to hear of the passing of K9 Kylo, what a wonderful dog he was, an incredible officer, with the Portland Police department!!!! so sad a day before his retirement, my condolences to all who knew this wonderful boy!!!! he was loved by many, and will never be forgotten ♥️ You’re at peace now, a job well done for 6 years, you are now resting at the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge!!!! What a sad and unforgettable tragedy that occured only 1 day before heroic K9 Kylo was about to retire from his line of duty. His life ended much too soon, after dedicating six years of service to protect the lives of so many officers, and the people of the community. 💙 Prayers for your handler and the officers of the Gresham Police Department. Thank you for you service K9 Kylo. Rest in peace, knowing that you loved by so many members of your community. 🐕🦺 🌈
