Evansville, Indiana – Two people in Evansville have been arrested and charged in an animal cruelty case involving a dog who was hanged from a tree. Police arrested Jalisa Nicole Brown, 35, and Dejhaun Dontae Jones, 27, charging them with Torturing or Mutilating a Vertebrate Animal, a Level 6 felony, for hanging a dog who was found in a tree in late March.
According to reports, a white pit bull was found suspended from a tree in a wooded area near Cross Street and Evans Avenue. The dog was found hanging from the tree with an extension cord wrapped tightly around his neck.
As reported by WEVV News, Brown’s coworkers provided the tips leading to the duo’s arrest. WFIE News reports that Brown and Jones have denied their involvement with the dog’s hanging.
