Pedro, CA – A senior “grandpa” dog is at risk of being put down at a maxed-out shelter facility in California. The handsome old boy, Sam, is at the ARF Harbor Shelter and he is on orange alert.
The shelter writes about the 12-year-old dog’s demeanor:
This grandpa loves napping in his crate and sleeps a lot. You have to wake him up from a deep sleep but he is eager to come out of his crate but he is wobbly. Sam has balance problems but he can walk and get around. You can guide him on a leash and he can walk to the yard. He enjoys treats and takes them gently. In the small yard he likes to pace around the perimeter of the yard and sniff. He gets excited when he sees a dog through the fence otherwise he is pretty mellow.
This shelter facility is so crowded that Sam is being forced to live in a crate – a fact that breaks the shelter staff’s hearts. Please share Sam’s adoption information and help save his life! This sweet, old man deserves to live out the remainder of his life with a loving person, not inside a lonely crate.

If it “breaks the staffs heart” then the staff should’ve taken him home until they SENT HIM TO YOU WHO OFFERED but instead they killed him scared, abandoned and alone.

I watched the video and that dog was old in grief for his owner, he should of not been killed. Sickening..this city is a awful Calif city. Shame on this shelter.
CALIFORNIA IS AN AWEFUL PLACE FOR A DOG TO BE WAITING ON A REACUE OR ADOPTION. THE SHELTERS IN CALI ARE SLAUGHTERHOUSES AND ANY TINY REASON TO KILL THEM IS HOW IT GOES. DOGS AND ESPECIALLY CATS HAVE NO CHANCE IN CALIFOENIAS SHELTERS. WEST AND EAST SIDE SHELTERS IN LA ARE ABUSIVE AND MOST NEVER GET TAKEN OUTSIDE AND DONT EVEN HA E BEDS OR BLANKETS AND ALOT OF THE ANIMALS ARE SICK. THERE IS MORE BUT GETTING THEM OUT AND INTO HOMES IS THE URGENCY. PLEASE SAVE A DOG OR CAT TODAY. EUTHANASIA IS NOT GOOD IN SHELTERS PULL IT UP. IT WILL MAKE YOU CRY THE WAY ALOT OF THISE SPEND THEIR LAST MOMENTS IN A SLAUGHTERHOUS SHELTER.
California is disgusting! They claim to care about people and be woke but they are some of the most self absorbed pieces of feces in the world!
