Belton, TX – Earlier this month, police in Belton received a call about what sounded like kittens in a Heritage Park dumpster. Responding officers discovered the cries were instead coming from eight newborn puppies who were abandoned in a burlap bag that had been tossed in with the trash.
The officers transported the puppies back to the station to be dried, cleaned, and fed. All but one of the puppies survived.
As reported by KXAN News, the odds were stacked against the young puppies. The bag they were in was thrown into a dumpster that had water in the bottom, and it was only 40-degrees outside.
But the surviving puppies are safe now – it is unknown if they will all survive, but at least they are finally receiving care. The police are hoping to identify the person who abandoned them. Anyone with information is asked to reach out to the Belton Police Department at (254) 933-5840.

well we had a few abominations from florida. that can’t be complete without a few from texas. what the hell is wrong with these people? you have the time to bag them up and throw them away like an old pair of shoes but you couldn’t take that same time to bring them to a rescue or shelter. people just suck and that is becoming the norm. i pray that all the good folks out there start working double time or we will be over run by evil pieces of crap.
These things happen in all states, including California, and probably will be happening even more with all the violent prisoners and other menaces flooding into the USA illegally every day now. But God I pray this situation is stopped and reversed really soon.
Why are most animal abusers in America already American citizens??? Why the hell do you asshats always have to make everything about “ILLEGALS”?!?!?!??! To tell you the truth, a lot of us would rather live next door to an undocumented person (the correct term) than you, Laura.
None of that makes any sense. Vast majority of animal abusers in all countries are citizens of those countries.
ILLEGAL immigration is a serious problem for any nation and for all legal citizens. Several countries are disposing of their violent prisoners and others they’re glad to be rid of, sending them here through the open border. If you want them living next door to you, you need help.

i think you need a refresher class on what is happening with these illegals coming here. you also might want to check out the stellar animal abuse laws in the countries they are coming from. there aren’t any by the way, so do you believe that if there is this massive abuse in their home countries many wont do it here. wake up. did you see the 189 dogs that border patrol rescued that were eating garbage and just sickly strays? guess how they got here! yes your illegals bring them for added security and once they invade our country they just dump them there to die. so put a band aid on your bleeding heart!

Dumping all those babies to slowly starve to death, instead of being responsible adults and not allowing dogs to mate. The poor mother, imagine her suffering for needing to nurse and love on her pups, and her sad existence with such lowdown people. While jolly dog breeders keep on “making puppies,” i.e. products.
Texas. No surprise there. All the redneck states seem to have no respect or regard for animals. They can’t seem to grasp the concept of spay/neuter to prevent more pups or kittens from being born then tossed like garbage or killed in their overflowing shelters.
