Port St. Lucie, FL – A 23-year-old man in Port St. Lucie is accused of adopting kittens from shelters only to torture and kill them. The animal cruelty case against Alairic Alec Ramsbott is particularly gruesome given the sadistic nature of the crimes.
According to the authorities, Ramsbott tortured and killed the adopted kittens by throwing them to the ground, punching them in the face (breaking at least one kitten’s neck), drowning them and inflicting “other trauma.”
According to the individual who provided the case-breaking tip to the authorities, during some of the incidents, Ramsbott would wear long rubber gloves to protect himself from being scratched by the cats. According to the complainant, Ramsbott had all seven kittens cremated after their deaths.
On June 19, when the police searched his home, they found books regarding “witchcraft, demonology, sacrifices and ritualistic processes.”
Police also collected recording devices from Ramsbott’s home – the authorities are hopeful that the seized equipment will have evidence of the killings recorded.
On June 25, Ramsbott was arrested on eight counts of cruelty to animals and booked into the St. Lucie County Jail on a $600,000 bond. Police seized four surviving kittens from Ramsbott’s home; one had a broken jaw and two others had injuries. The kittens were taken in by the Humane Society of St. Lucie County.
