New Haven, Connecticut – Police have arrested a man who is accused of fatally beating his six-month-old puppy. According to the New Haven Police Department, 24-year-old N’ Quan Brown is facing a charge of animal cruelty resulting in death for the killing of his puppy, Bella, in March 2025.
Brown brought Bella to a veterinarian last year because she could not stand up, was not eating, and could not move. Brown claimed a handheld shower head had fallen on Bella’s head, but a veterinary exam revealed a broken leg and severe internal bleeding. Despite veterinary intervention, Bella died.
Bella was not the victim of one brutal beating – further veterinary examination revealed a ruptured lung and ribs that had been broken and healed.
Brown ultimately turned himself in to the police on February 24; he was assigned a $25,000 bond and will appear in court later this month.
