Brevard County, Florida – A Florida man was taken down by Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies after he shot a cat in the face with a high-powered BB gun. According to the authorities, Lucas Stedman shot the cat in the eye because it “didn’t get along with his cat.”
Sheriff Wayne Ivey berated the cat killer, saying “On May 11, he decided that it would be a good idea to shoot a cat in the eye with a high-powered BB gun and kill the cat,” Ivey said. “I don’t know what kind of outrageous nutjob thinks that’s a good idea.”
Stedman was arrested for aggravated animal cruelty, a felony, and booked into jail on $50,000 bond.
Aggravated animal cruelty is one of the most serious animal-related offenses under Florida law. It involves intentional acts that result in a cruel death or the excessive or repeated infliction of unnecessary pain and suffering upon an animal.
In Florida, aggravated animal cruelty is a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison, fines of up to $10,000, or both.

From what I’ve found on PI Google, this POS lives at 17 S Palmway Avenue in Rockledge, Florida. 904-442-4900 is listed as his phone number. He’s 48 years old – I had found his picture but can’t find the article now. If I find it again, I’ll post it! He needs to be introduced to a Louisville Slugger (repeatedly).

It’s troubling that a cat owner would even consider hurting another cat. Apparently it was a stray because no owner is mentioned, so why not borrow a trap and take the poor thing to a shelter? Or if it’s an intact male, perhaps TNR would fix the problem. I pray that this killer gets the maximum punishment.
