Park City, Utah – A K9 with the Park City Police Department is recovering from severe injuries sustained when he jumped from a freeway overpass while assisting in a suspicious package investigation near the Highway 40/I-80 interchange. According to the police department, K9 Bruno Life Flight transported him to an emergency veterinary hospital in Salt Lake City for treatment.
On Wednesday, the agency said Bruno survived the impact, but sustained serious injuries, including two broken legs and a fractured jaw. The department said:
We are happy to share that he is in good spirits and is scheduled to undergo surgery this afternoon to repair his broken leg.
Despite the seriousness of his injuries, Bruno continues to show us just how tough he is. We know he has a long road to recovery ahead of him, but we are encouraged by his condition and the care he is receiving, special thanks to Bruno’s care team at MedVet.
The department has not provided a post-surgical update for K9 Bruno.
